Dubai International Financial Centre - DIFC
The Dubai International Financial Center or DIFC is
an onshore capital market designated as a financial free zone designed
to create a unique financial services cluster economy for wealth
creation initiatives. Banking Services, Capital Markets, Asset
Management and Fund Registration, Reinsurance, Islamic Finance and Back
Office Operations are the six focus areas of this financial center.
Located behind Sheikh Zayed Road, DIFC offers commercial activities in
a landscaped environment with residential towers. The offices of DIFC
will employ the highest standards of communication technology, with a
functional, integrated infrastructure, in addition to a fully
electronic multi-class trading exchange. DIFC is intended as a
cost-effective and functional place to operate.
The Gate
Bearing to witness to the progress of Dubai, the Gate is a 15-storey
architectural signature of the DIFC. This iconic building houses the
executive offices of the DIFC authority, the DFSA, and also provides
prime office space for leading international financial institutions.
The Gate is the first step in the DIFC district, a development offering
offices, serviced apartments, hotels, shops and restaurants. The Gate
represents everything you would expect from a world-class cosmopolitan
city.
DIFC District
The DIFC residential district is a self-contained
development offering a luxurious lifestyle in the world's new financial
center. Comparable to the centers in Singapore and London, DIFC will
feature a unique integration of buildings in one strategic location.
The district is planned and designed to become the ultimate in
convenience for work and a cosmopolitan lifestyle. The district's
residential towers will feature world-class living spaces catering to
the executives working in the Gate and other office towers.
Recreational venues such as museums, art gallery and performing arts
center will add to the DIFC appeal as a resort destination. Luxury
hotels and close by convention centers will also provide services and
conference facilities to DIFC businesses.
Built around the Gate Boulevard, the DIFC district
will be connected by an automated transit system. Temperature
controlled walkways will allow residents to traverse from one end to
the other, passing beautiful landscaped surroundings, outdoor cafes and
restaurants, as well as children play areas. DIFC offers more than just
a commercial venue; it offers a multicultural and high-tech lifestyle
for people that favor a value-added life.
Location

 |
The DIFC is located off Sheikh Zayed Road and behind
the Emirates Towers and Dubai World Trade Center. The financial hub is
located in the heart of the city and is close to leading banks, hotels
and retail outlets. It is 10 minutes away from Dubai International
Airport and 15 minutes away from Jebel Ali. The mission of the DIFC is
to be a catalyst for regional economic growth, development and
diversification by functioning as a globally recognized regional
financial center. Its location within convenient distance to New Dubai
and Bur Dubai puts in a strategic position to cater to all aspects of
financial dealings in the region.
Located at the crossroads of the major international capital markets of New York and London (in the West) and Hong Kong (in the East), Dubai is the complementary hub connecting the region with the 24 hour/7 days a week global financial network.
The Dubai International Financial Centre was conceived by the Government of Dubai for the benefit of the UAE and the wider region as a whole. Its remit is to create a regional capital market, offering investors and issuers of capital world-class regulations and standards. Its hallmarks are: integrity, transparency and efficiency.
As a new global jurisdiction for financial institutions, the DIFC offers its participants a highly attractive investment environment, including:
100 percent foreign ownership
zero percent tax rate on income and
profits
wide network of double taxation treaties available to UAE
incorporated entities
no restrictions on foreign exchange or capital/profit
repatriation
dollar
denominated environment
transparent operating environment with high standards of rules and
regulations
strict
supervision and enforcement of money laundering laws
ultra modern office accommodation, state-of-the-art technology, sophisticated infrastructure, data protection/security, operational support and business continuity facilities of uncompromisingly high standards.
But unlike ‘offshore’ tax havens, the DIFC is a fully fledged ‘onshore’ capital market, comparable to Hong Kong, London and New York.
