Further enhancing the potential of the property market in the United
Arab Emirates (UAE), a mammoth project is in the pipeline in Ajman.
Ameinfo.com hones in on the scheme that hopes to transform the emirate
into a veritable hotspot in the tourism and property investment worlds.
The £30 billion project will centre on the construction of a new coastal city in the UAE, the 'Al Zorah' scheme, just 25 minutes from Dubai International
Airport. The end result will be a self-contained city planned down to
the finest detail, which once complete is expected to have a population
of approximately 200,000.
The scheme, the brainchild of the government of Ajman and urban
planning giant Solidere International, aims to build on the popularity
with investors that Ajman has already established and make the emirate
a global name. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaim, UAE Supreme Council
Member, Ruler of Ajman and chairman of the Al Zorah Development
Company, explained what the project means for the emirate: "Al Zorah is
a milestone for Ajman, reflecting the combination of tradition and
innovation that distinguishes the emirate. Already a sought-after
destination for high-value investors...Ajman is entering a new chapter
in its development. Al Zorah is a truly spectacular project that will
become an international destination."
Dr Nasser Chammaa, CEO and chairman of Solidere International, was
equally enthusiastic and highlighted the city-to-be's eco-credentials:
"Al Zorah...is an ambitious project, intended to transform Ajman into
one of the region's most sought-after places to live, work and play, in
an urban environment that also ensures energy conservation and
sustainability for future generations."
Al Zorah will combine Ajman's natural beauty and modern construction,
maximising green space within the city and grouping residences in
idyllic waterfront "villages" with a real sense of community living. To
make the project as eco-friendly possible, there will be plenty of
public transport facilities, as well as walkways and cycle paths to
encourage residents to leave their cars behind. The use of shade and
energy-efficient construction techniques and materials aim to limit the
use of energy on-site. With a built-up area of 22 million square
metres, Al Zorah will also have 16 kilometres of sandy white beaches,
marinas and all manner of leisure facilities to keep residents and
holidaymakers happy.
