Dh4 billion tram project for the city |

DUBAI: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad bin
Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and
Ruler of Dubai today unveiled a Dh4 billion tram project that will go a
long way in easing traffic congestion in the city. The Al Shafooh
Project stretching over 14 kilometres will link Madinat Jumeirah, Mall
of the Emirates, Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Beach Residence.
The network will span 19 stations across the 14 km stretch.
The
modern transport system will be put into place to meet the growing
demographic requirements of the UAE. At the same time it will also
enhance the reputation of Dubai as a major hub of the region.
