The South African government has revealed that direct flights between Durban and Dubai will begin operating soon.
According
to finance minister Zweli Mkhize, direct services between the two
locations will commence before the end of this year, reports the Daily
News.
Mr Mkhize confirmed that discussions with the Emirates airline regarding the new route are now in their final stages.
However,
he conceded that the prospect of this service being introduced has been
the "worst-kept secret" in the tourism industry.
The move represents a further improvement to the international connectivity of Dubai and could help boost tourism in the region.
Furthermore, the resulting economic benefits could encourage more people to look at buying property for sale in Dubai.
According to ShelterOffshore.com, people from the UK own more property in the region than any other nationality.
