Dubai Real Estate Institute launches resource centre

DUBAI — The Dubai Real Estate Institute (DREI) yesterday launched a scientific and research hub equipped to provide information for the advancement of the real estate industry, the academic institution yesterday said in a statement.

It added that the DREI Resource Centre would acquire, facilitate, deliver and disseminate industry information to serve the teaching and research needs of the institute, the Middle East's first specialised real estate school. 

The centre has a comprehensive database of print and online resources including Emerald Insight, which has a wide collection of property periodicals, the global provider of industry and management analysis, Economist Intelligence Unit, business solutions producer LexisNexis and the American Real Estate Society (ARES).  

ARES is an important part of the research database because it promotes research and education in real estate the exchange of information between and among universities, faculty and practising professionals.   Dr Mohamed Al Shehi, managing director of DREI, said the centre is part of the institute's commitment to provide high quality education, research and professional development solutions. "It will serve as a vast storehouse of information as well as a vehicle to enable academics and practitioners to conduct relevant and timely research," he added.  

The statement said membership to the resource centre is open to individual researchers, corporations, students, universities, governments, research institutions and consultants. Members may also avail of free wireless internet, book briefing seminars as well as printing and photocopying facilities.   "The online databases will act as a tool, segmenting journal articles, reports and statistics, in addition to helping researchers locate and retrieve articles from magazines and journals through the internet by author, keyword or title," the statement said.   The newly opened DREI has partnered with several international real estate universities in offering graduate programmes and industry specific open enrolment courses
