Khalifa satisfied with Lulu Island's building plans:
President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan yesterday
reviewed at the Al Bateen Palace a model of the six square-kilometre
Lulu Island development project. He was accompanied by General Shaikh
Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme
Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
Also present at the
presentation were Minister for Presidential Affairs, Shaikh Mansour Bin
Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Finance Department, Shaikh
Mohammad Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Deputy Minister for Presidential
Affairs, Ahmad Juma Al Za'abi, and officials from Surouh Real Estate.
Shaikh
Khalifa expressed satisfaction with the project. He also expressed
desire and determination to proceed with the country's development
programme.
He gave directives for the provision of all sorts
of facilities of comfort, including the best transport systems and
recreation facilities, without compromising the environment of the
country and to make the UAE a very attractive cultural, trade and
tourism hub.
The president was given a detailed briefing about the whole project, including the phases of execution of the project by Surouh.
The
3.5 million square metre project will include the construction of
roads, bridges, tunnels and pedestrian walkways to link Abu Dhabi with
the island.
Buildings on the island will not exceed four-storeys
and would include residential villas, apartment buildings, seven
luxurious hotels, including five and seven-star hotels, resorts,
offices, shopping malls, international schools and various sports
facilities to cater for a population of about 20,000 people on the
island.
