This was announced by Shaikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister for Public Works and chairman of the Programme, at a Press briefing held yesterday.
Shaikh
Mohammed had earlier announced that 40,000 villas would be built for
low-income nationals across the country. “The gesture is in line with
the state’s policy of seeking civilisational and urban integration in
all the emirates of the country,” Shaikh Hamdan said.
“The
40,000 villas project will be the largest to be carried by the Shaikh
Zayed Housing Programme in the country,” Shaikh Hamdan noted.
Outlining
the mechanism for the distribution of these housing units, Sheikh
Hamdan said : “The Programme has laid down the criteria for delivery of
these villas.”
He urged the beneficiaries to update their data with the Programme by next month.
According
to the minister, priority will be given to nationals owning old and
dilapidated houses. Next on the priority will be nationals who have no
houses or who are residing with their relatives or in rented units.
